About Crowns and Bridges
The area of the tooth that is visible when we smile is called the crown. When this part of the tooth is damaged by whether trauma or decay, it will need to be restored. A ceramic of metal crown is fabricated to cover and protect the damaged tooth.
This i called a replacement crown. When the patient presents us a missing tooth and the two teeth adjacent to the edentulous space have existing restorations, a bridge becomes one of the options for replacing the missing tooth.
A bridge is realised by placing crown in both teeth adjacent to the space and joining then to a replacement tooth in the edentulous area.
